# How Do You Make Sure My Money Is Safe?

This product is self-custodial, which gives you direct control over your "Vault shares." This is fundamentally different from a traditional custodial account:
**• Your Smart Wallet:** Your funds are held in a secure, onchain smart chain wallet.
**• On-Chain Proof:** When you deposit, you receive "Vault Share" tokens directly in your smart wallet. This is your onchain, verifiable proof of ownership—you can see your assets on a block explorer at any time.
**• Safety Controls:** Gauntlet applies institutional-grade risk management. This includes limiting exposure to "blue-chip" stablecoins and strictly constraining position sizes based on available liquidity to ensure you can exit positions smoothly.
**• Risks:** This is not a bank deposit. Yields are generated via onchain strategies which carry smart contract and liquidity risks.
